Brad Monsma is a writer and educator and the author
of The Sespe Wild: Southern California's Last Free River, as
well as essays in The Surfer's Journal, Kyoto Journal, High
Country News, and a number of anthologies. He and Amiko Matsuo
translated Art Place Japan, a book about the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale, a festival
focused on community and environmental resilience. They also developed
Pyrometric: Telling Stories with Fire, a series of ceramic and mixed
media installations about material agency and fire.
